Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner before the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
