Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official dismissed the appeals.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.
Pino Wraps Up the Contest
The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
